Bloomsbury Football Charity 7-a-side

In May, some of the Pembroke VCT team traded their Friday evening for Emirates Stadium, pulling on their boots for the Bloomsbury Football Foundation’s annual charity 7-a-side.

The Foundation is doing real, inspiring work. 6,500 young people on pitch every week, deliberately targeting London’s most underserved communities. The goal is 20,000 by 2028.

The tournament brought together teams from across finance to raise funds for it. We made the semi-finals before bowing out. The team were brilliant throughout, and the spirit in the changing rooms was exactly what you would hope for from an evening like this.

More than the result, though, it was good to be in a room full of people who had shown up for something that genuinely mattered. Not a networking event dressed up as charity. Just people who wanted to be there.
